Day 1/80 – God, Creator of Heaven and Earth
As a ministry of Jeonju Antioch Church, AICF is following along with the main church’s 80-day Bible Reading Plan to close out 2020. Every day, follow along with the reading plan, a daily reflection, and meditation (writing in a spiritual journal) here on our website. We will be translating and using the main church’s plan from Korean to English here.
About the Reading
As most audio Bibles are an average of 75-hours in length, expect each daily reading to take between 45-60 minutes. For busy people who may not have time to sit down and read for that long, we will also provide links to audio versions, either on YouTube or elsewhere, that you can listen to throughout the day.
Day 1
Monday, October 12
Genesis 1-18
God, Creator of Heaven and Earth
1. Prayer
Almighty God, Master of life, who, in the beginning, created all things in the universe by hand, help us to live each day by exalting your name in the whole earth.
2. Key verses
- Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
- Genesis 1:27-28 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
3. Scripture Reading
Genesis 1-18
- English audio
- YouVersion Bible (NIV) online / app
- YouTube
- Korean audio
There are also MANY other options and translations available for listening if you do a quick Google Search.
4. Reflection
Are you convinced that you never evolved by chance? Many people believe in the theory of evolution as a scientifically proven absolute truth. We Christians must realize that the culture of this world is shaped by these evolutionary values, and we must firmly believe that the creation of ourselves and the universe were not a product of evolution, but by the design and providence of God. It leads us to the belief that the Master of life is God and that we exist in this world by God’s design and purpose.
5. Writing a spiritual journal
After reading today’s text, write down the will of God that you came to realize, the passage that moved you, or what you decided to do and how you want to put it into practice.
